Here’s how a frustrated engineer turned teacher went from online business desperation to starting a profitable online journey.
You won’t believe how simple this is……
Like most people I went to school, then University. After four years of studying I got a ‘good’ job as a design engineer. I thought that was it, I’ve achieved what I wanted and now all I’ve got to do is build my career and the money will come.
After a while, I realised that it wasn’t going to be as easy as that.
I remember looking at my bank account one Monday morning and despite being paid the Friday before, I was still in the red. There always seemed to be too much month at the end of the paycheque.
My working week was at least six if not seven days some weeks. I was working sixty hours a week with no free time to enjoy my sport and hobbies. 🕔
I started to think there has got to be something else. Life can’t be just like this? I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.
Isn’t that an all too familiar story?
How many people do you know who are either:
✅ Broke, unhappy, and unfulfilled,
✅ Living paycheck to paycheck,
✅ Buried under soul-crushing debt,
✅ Feel like they’re working to build someone else’s dreams.
Well, that was exactly my life at the time!
So I started looking for something, anything that would give me some time freedom. A friend of mine introduced me to a business where I could duplicate my efforts by just talking to people about cleaning products.
So I got really excited and started talking to everybody about buying soap and cleaning products from my new business. I started going to meetings and tried to get my friends and family to do the same.
Although this was a good business model, it didn’t work for me and I got fed up trying to convince people to get involved in the business.
That’s it I thought, there was no point in wanting more, serves me right in thinking I could do it and so I went back to the 40-year work plan again.
The nagging feelings were still there and I still wanted some more time freedom so I went back to University and started teaching. I thought teachers get loads of holiday so I’ll teach in a college.
In reality, I had less time as a teacher than I did as an Engineer. I found that the marking, preparation, parents’ evening, and more marking took up all those so-called holidays.
So there I was, turning 40 with mortgage payments, car payments and the prospect of working for at least another 30 years!! The nagging thoughts were still there though.
There has got to be a better way? Life can’t be like this.
So I started looking again. This time on YouTube.
The new craze back then was dropshipping on eBay. What a simple idea I thought, I can do that so I did. I started sourcing things on Amazon and then selling them on eBay. Worked OK for a while but all the customer service, delivery problems and out of stock issues made it more like a full-time job.
So I started Amazon fulfilment (FBA) then day trading, then Forex trading, promoting Gold bullion. I even tried real estate flipping.
The shiny object syndrome had taken hold. 🌟
None of them really worked for me. There wasn’t a set formula, blueprint or training to work to. The best I got was a three video training course with a three page PDF containing the video transcripts and that was it. No weekly meetings, no support, no help.
So there I was pulling my hair out, literally.

The sobering truth of reality dawned again.

But then I saw a video on Instagram which sparked my interest once again. By this time as you can imagine, I was very sceptical, but I did my research and jumped in.
I’m glad to say I found some training, support and a group of people that were amazing and very supportive.
Finally, there WAS a better way! 💥
I applied the training and got involved in the community and soaked it all up.
After a few months of applying the training, I started having some results online. Not enough to buy me a Lambo or get a house in Florida, but things were moving. I knew this was for me.
✅ It was a way to get time freedom back in my life,
✅ It was something I could do and would love to do,
✅ It was 100% flexible, so I could spend time doing the things I love,
✅ I wouldn’t have to work sixty hours a week again,
✅ I could spend more time with my family and friends.
